The lake does not maintain itself, nature will, and in part has taken over. There is far too much bank cover,and not enough marginal plants, partly due to loss of light caused by trees with large overhanging branches.<br /> <br />The lake area is meant to be a welcoming public place that caters for all of our community, for example; walking your dog, fishing, picnicking, or just enjoying the view and feeding the ducks. <br /> </div><div style="text-align: center"> </div><div style="text-align: center"><img src="images/stories/6_09_09%20014.jpg" border="0" width="573" height="428" /></div><div style="text-align: center"> </div><div style="text-align: center"><h2><strong>A recently cleared fishing spot </strong></h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p><img src="images/stories/6_09_09%20013.jpg" border="0" width="571" height="427" /> </p><h2><strong>Work needed to restore fishing platform </strong></h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p>During the last two days (8-9/09/2009) George and David have been clearing the branches from the area and relocating the ready for chipping,they also created two wildlife homes for frogs and other wildlife who may wish to stay for the winter.</p><p>The view from this new area is excellent and due to the bank behind which rises gently away from the lake edge it is quite sheltered. </p><p>After speaking to a couple of local fishermen it seems that our efforts are not in vain,they have long wished to clear the area themselves and have offered to join inwith our next pruning session! They would also like to see the lake restocked with Carp as this would bring in more Anglers.
